Conference with family members to discuss options available, done either at your home or the Allen Memorial Home, at no charge.

Today, more people are recognizing that planning a funeral in advance of need is an act of love and consideration for their family members. It is a thoughtful decision that reduces the stress of indecision and uncertainty, which so often follows a death.

That is why the Allen Memorial Home offers advance funeral planning. Pre-planning offers a family time to talk things over and ask questions. Time to consider options and discuss them with those they care about, and time to make informed decisions. Knowing that we maintain an "on location" crematory has helped many families choose the Allen Memorial Home to assist with planning when cremation is chosen as a step towards final disposition.

Part of funeral pre-planning is pre-funding. Funds accepted in advance of Funeral Services are placed in Funeral Trust Accounts. These accounts are interest bearing, with the accumulation of interest being used to offset any increases in funeral expenses. Funds are placed in either revocable or irrevocable trust accounts based upon the Medicaid status of the individual.

What to expect when you make funeral pre-arrangements:

  • Conference with family members to discuss options available, done either at your home or the Allen Memorial Home, at no charge.
  • Determination of services and merchandise particular to each individual family.
  • Complete pre-need itemization statement which outlines funeral costs.
  • Explanation and completion of trust account agreements. (Revocable or Irrevocable).
  • Complete the Individual Estate Record which deals thoughtfully with that one inevitable reality of life and has been designed to provide a helpful checklist of important documents, their whereabouts, and other detailed information that will be needed someday.
