Biography

Anthony J. Pettinato, 51, Endicott, passed away suddenly Friday evening, January 20, 2012.  He was predeceased by his devoted grandparents Angela and Giacomo Pettinato and Lillian and Oreste Paoletti; his Uncle Dr. Salvatore Pettinato and Aunt Angela Mancuso. He is survived by his loving parents, Anthony and Hilda (Paoletti) Pettinato, sister Barbara (Pettinato) and husband Thomas Brown, and twin brother Gerard and wife Angela (Francavilla) Pettinato. Also, surviving are his much-loved nephews and nieces, Luke and Catherine (Almy) Brown; Nathan Brown; Gina Pettinato and fiancé Sean Hooker; Annette (Pettinato) and Cory Micholychak; and Vincenzo Pettinato; and also many aunts, uncles and cousins. Tony was born on June 13, 1960 in Carbondale, PA. His tremendous work ethic came from his childhood experiences with his family at Pettinato's Restaurant and on the Bianchi farms. Tony was a proud graduate of Union-Endicott High School, where he subsequently spent many hours giving back to the school community. Tony was known for his love of family, Italian food, shopping and his dog Buddy. He enjoyed working with his family at Mario's Pizza in Owego and he looked forward to vacationing in Myrtle Beach. Tony had an extraordinary zest for life and possessed the unique ability to connect with everyone he met. His genuine spirit touched many people and he was an inspiration to all who knew him. Tony will be remembered for his quick wit and dry humor. He was never at a loss for words and you never wondered what he was thinking - he'd let you know. Tony, we were blessed to have you in our lives.  You will live forever in our hearts. The family would also like to extend a special note of thanks to Dr. Yuli Kim and Penn Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for their compassionate care and efforts to improve the quality of Tony's life.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday 9:30 am from the Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 10 am. Burial will be in Mother of Sorrow Cemetery, Carbondale, PA. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Wednesday from 4-7 pm.
