David Harvey

d. March 26, 2017

David M. Harvey, 51, of Endicott, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017. He was predeceased by his grandparents Jacob N. and Mary Catherine Harvey; parents-in-law Umberto and Stefanina Paniccia and a sister-in-law Rossana Balchikonis. He is survived by his loving wife Ornella (Paniccia) Harvey; his devoted children Adrianna and Nicholas, a sister Deanna Harvey and many aunts; uncles; cousins and friends. Dave was a graduate of Binghamton High School and attended Broome Community College. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Endicott and the Independent Mutual Aid Association. He was a former employee of Pepsi-Cola and an employee of Frito-Lay for 20 years. His father-in-law Umberto inspired David to become an avid outdoors man. He was a big NASCAR fan and his favorite sports teams were the Philadelphia Eagles and the Alabama Crimson Tide. One of his greatest passions was being involved in his children’s sporting events. Whether Dave spent many hours being a football, basketball, or baseball coach for his son, who he called “Cheese,” or spending many weekends out-of-town with his daughter “Evee” at softball tournaments, he was always supportive of his children and one of the first in the stands for every game. In addition to the joy and pride that his children gave him, his wife played a significant role in their loving marriage for more than 25 years. Spoiling Ornella with endless love was something that came so natural to him. David’s dedication to his family went unmatched, and that motivated him to do so many good acts for them. His trademark bear hugs and mischievous grins were something that he will always be remembered for. David touched so many lives and made friends with everyone he crossed paths with, especially his “brother” Chrissy. His upbeat, positive and happy personality showed off through his most infamous quotes: “I’m happy to be here”, “Everything will be OK” and to his children “I love you to the moon and back”. Dave will always be remembered as a loving husband, adoring father and the first person to lend a helping hand to a friend in need.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday 1:15 pm at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 306 Odell Avenue, Endicott. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at church Friday from 10 am to 1 pm.
