Adam Marcus McDonnell Marhefka, 26, of Apalachin, passed away following a recent illness on March 5, 2014. He was the beloved son of Richard Marhefka and Patricia McDonnell and a wonderful brother to Alicia Marhefka his cherished sister. His maternal grandfather Mark F. McDonnell and his paternal grandmother Josephine Marhefka predeceased Adam. His paternal grandparents Joseph and Helen Marhefka and his maternal grandmother Mary McDonnell survive him. Adam was loved by his extended family who survives him: His aunts and uncles; Terrie and Peter Powell, Joseph and Florence Yungman, Bob Yungman and Vince, Michael and Jan McDonnell, Mark and Kathleen McDonnell, Eileen Parviz and Eddie, Margie and Neil Harper as well as many cousins and his best friends Tyler and Beth Smith. Zeus his constant companion will be lost without him. Adam graduated from Owego Free Academy and attended Broome Community College. He also worked as an Intern at Broome Developmental Services. Adam was a very gentle, patient man with a great sense of humor who thought about others more than himself. Those who loved him will remember him for all his kindness.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday at 4 pm at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, with Anthony French, friend of the family officiating. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Saturday from 3 pm until service time at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Adam’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
