Alan Fulton Ewing, 69, of Union Center, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital on Thursday, September 17, after a brief illness. He is predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Dorothy Ewing. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Bonita; two sons, Alex (Mary) and Andrew (Nicole); five grandchildren, James, Andrew, Liam, Sofie, and Lauren. Alan spent many years of his professional career as the Purchasing Agent for the Union-Endicott Central School District and was dedicated to everything he did. Following his retirement he committed himself to his participation in the Maine Endwell School Board where he was a member for 12 years (President for three years), Town of Union Zoning Board where he was a member for 37 years (Chairman for five years), and President of the School District Health Insurance Consortium. He was an avid and active member of The Friends of Spartan Football and found great pride and enjoyment in selling 50/50 raffle tickets at every home game. He commented often that you never had to worry about what he was thinking because he would tell you, and that was what many who knew him appreciated about him.
The family will receive friends at Federated Church of Maine, 2615 Main Street, Route 26 in Maine, Saturday from 4-7 pm. Private Services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Alan’s memory may be made to The Chow Pantry at the Federated Church of Maine.
