Alvin A. “Al” Buchinsky of Endicott, NY was born July 16, 1937, and passed away peacefully on July 4, 2015, after a battle with cancer. Al is survived by his wife of 56 years, Julia Buchinsky. Al is survived by his daughter, Beth Hills (Mike) of Endicott, and his son, Mark Buchinsky (Laura) of Yardley, PA. Al will be missed by his loving grandchildren, Mallory, Vincent and Garrett Hills, and Lisa, Alexis and Erica Buchinsky. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Sally Linko; a niece and nephews; many cousins and friends. He was pre-deceased by his brother-in-law, Tom Linko. Al graduated from Johnson City High School. He retired from IBM after 36 years of service and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a member of St. Casimir’s Church. He was a devoted volunteer for Special Olympics, International Order of Alhambra and the Anderson Center Arts Corps. Al was a prolific traveler, blood donor, scrap-booker, e-mail jokester, amateur genealogist and golfer. Al was proud of his Lithuanian heritage and an enthusiastic Penn State Nittany Lion tailgater and fan. Thanks to all our family and friends for their prayers and sustaining support during this difficult time. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 3 pm at St. Ambrose Church, 203 Washington Avenue, Endicott. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Maine, NY at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at church Wednesday from 2 pm until Mass time at 3 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell, NY 13760.
