Alwyn Jones

Alwyn Richard Jones, born on March 21, 1930 in Carbondale, PA died on April 24, 2016. A veteran of the Korean War, he served overseas with the 306th field hospital MASH Unit of NC. He returned from the service to Endicott, NY to employment with IBM, where he worked 34 years before transferring to IBM in Raleigh. He retired in 1987. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Kalurah Shrine Member in Binghampton, NY. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sue H. Jones of Raleigh; children, Kathy Ann Chanitz of Raleigh, Richard John Jones (Jane) of Sarasota, FL, Nancy E. Blair (James) of Raleigh and Jeffery Thomas Jones (Tiff) of Pikeville, TN; grandchildren, Heather M. Nance and Christopher J. Pier; and great grandchildren, Desiray Nance, Gavin Nance and Harlowe Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Violet Jones; his older brother, William Jones and oldest son, David L. Jones.
Services will be held Monday 3 pm from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Monday from 2:30 pm until service time at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Transitions Hospice Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
