Ann Driggs

Ann (Griffin) Driggs, 85, of Vestal, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on July 4, 2023.
Ann was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on August 26, 1937. Ann earned a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and a master’s degree from the University of Maryland. She worked for Western Electric in Winston-Salem, where she met her future husband, Barry. They were married February 4, 1961, and enjoyed 61 years together before Barry passed in 2022.
Ann and Barry moved to Maryland in 1963, where they were joined by one daughter and two sons. The family moved to Vestal in 1973 where Ann and Barry remained for the rest of their lives, raising their family and keeping active in their church (South Hills Presbyterian in Vestal and later First Presbyterian in Endicott) and many volunteer community organizations. Ann had many friends in the Ladybugs and Garden Club, and delivered for Meals-On-Wheels for over 30 years. She worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block and Jackson-Hewitt, and volunteered tutoring local school children. Ann and Barry especially enjoyed traveling together, visiting all 50 states and 25 different countries around the world.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband Barry, her parents Thomas and Thelma Griffin, and Barry’s parents Bill and Ruth Driggs. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Suzanne and Craig Scovell, Stan and Marylee Driggs, and David and Carol Driggs, her six grandchildren: Casey and Corey Scovell, Melissa and Joseph Driggs, and Derek and Devin Driggs, and her great-grandson William Scovell.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 29th from 2-4 pm at Celebrations, 215 Washington Ave, Endicott, NY. Interment will be at Vestal Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged in Ann’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association and Meals-On-Wheels of Western Broome.
