Ann Marie Dwyer

February 8, 1944 — September 14, 2024

Ann Marie Dwyer passed unexpectedly on Saturday Sept 14. She spent her last day with her husband enjoying the beautiful autumn weather by Lake Ontario.
Ann was born Feb 8, 1944 in Johnson City, NY. Predeceased by her parents George and Anna Vint. Survived by her husband Joseph, sister Georgine (Ted), four children (Steven (Jennifer), David, Becky (Matthew), Joanna (Jason), and six grandchildren (Nick, Rachel, Macen, Joe, Gavin, Maddi).
Married to Joseph since June 12, 1965, they moved to Endwell to raise their own family. She earned her degree in Early Childhood education from SUNY Cortland and enjoyed over 30 years of teaching elementary and nursery school, retiring from First Presbyterian Nursery School in Endicott.
Her infectious laugh came easily to lighten the mood. “Here Comes the Sun” was her wake up call of choice. Neil Diamond and Josh Groban got her toes tapping. Pinochle was a fun way to spend time with friends. Family vacations were spent camping at many of the state parks around the US, visiting most states over time.
After retiring she continued to develop new interests. She stayed active through a bowling league and water aerobics. She discovered a latent interest and talent in acrylic painting, jumping in to paint several dozen works of art in just a few years. Her subjects were mostly found in nature, capturing the colors of flowers and sunsets.
The last 20 summers were spent at Brennan Beach on the shores of Lake Ontario in Pulaski, NY. It was their second home and community, a wonderful place for family gatherings each summer. Bunco became her game of choice at the lake.
She made full use of her green thumbs, with a house full of plants and diverse gardens outside to attract her favorite hummingbirds. She could be found relaxing with a selection from the overflowing bookcases, a movie or the latest plot twist on “The Young & The Restless”. Her tech skillz were strong, with a mastery of NetFlix, Roku and YouTube and recently learning more about computers. She spent many nights binge watching a new NetFlix series.
Her sudden departure has left a hole in our hearts. Below are some lyrics from a favorite Neil Diamond song, “Sweet Caroline”:
Where it began, I can't begin to knowin'. But then I know it's growin' strong
Was in the spring, And spring became the summer, Who'd have believed you'd come along.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am Thursday, September 19 at Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at church, Thursday the 19 from 10 am until Mass time at 11 am.
