Anna E (Johnson) Saraceno, 85 passed peacefully on March 26, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton after an extended illness. She was predeceased by her parents Roy and Rose Johnson ; sister Linda (Frank) Scales. She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Tony T Saraceno; Her Siblings; Al (Jackie) Johnson, Joyce (Joe) Sick, Nancy Guccia, Cheryl (Tony) Olshefsky. Her son Anthony (Liz) Saraceno, Her grandsons, Nicholas A Saraceno, Andrew J Saraceno, Anthony E Saraceno. Anna also had a special place in her heart for grand-nephew Eric Johnson in whom she invested her time and love since he was a toddler. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families all of whom she cherished deeply. Anna and her husband attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Endicott faithfully for over 50 years where she served graciously in many capacities with joy. She participated in the choir for 20+ years, was a member of The Altar Rosary Society, served on the Funeral Luncheon Committee, The Soup Kitchen (with husband Tony by her side), and as Elementary Religious Ed Instructor all with great devotion. She was a faithful and tireless sponsor of many outside charities as well. Anna was a skilled seamstress and often lent her gift to others in need on occasion. Anna enjoyed a happy life in Endicott, N.Y where she was employed at Endicott Johnson for 25 years. She enjoyed bowling sponsored by her company and others and competed in tournaments many, on a national level. Her trademark was to jump at the foul line and bang her knees together. She also enjoyed softball. After her son Anthony discovered the game of golf she soon followed. She discovered a love for the game and pursued many happy hours with dear friends over the years. She and her husband followed her son with great passion as he pursued a professional career. Anna was a devoted grandmother and mother-in-law who fawned over her 3 grandsons tirelessly; they were a great source of joy for both as was her entire extended family. The Family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff of General Hospital Neurosurgery Rehab Unit, Lourdes Hospice Care, and the compassionate, kindness provided by the staff of 1 Ross West / Lourdes Hospital who helped to ease her pain prior to her passing.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday 10:30 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 701 West Main Street, Endicott. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at church Monday afternoon from 1-4 pm. In lieu of flowers; the family requests contributions may be offered in Anna’s name to the Our Lady of Good Counsel Soup Kitchen or The Broome County Cancer Society
