Anna E. Shaughnessy

Anna Elizabeth Shaughnessy (Middendorf) , 97 ½, of Vestal went to be with her Lord and Blessed Mother Mary on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at St. John’s Home in Rochester, NY.
Anna was predeceased by her “Honey” the Love of her life for 69 years, Edward Michael Shaughnessy, Daughter Diane “Dee” Shaughnessy, Granddaughter Taylor Anna Bodell; Parents Raymond and Goldie Middendorf, Brothers Gerald, John, Mark, Frank; Sisters Helen, Genevieve, Irene, Mary. In-Laws Edward and Nellie Shaughnessy and several Brothers-In-Law and Sisters-In-Law. Anna is survived by her Children Michael (Jo Ann) Shaughnessy, Pittsford, NY, Colleen (Larry) Singer, Camillus, NY and Nancy (Frank) Lake, Sayre, PA; Son-In-Law Paul (Brenda) Bodell, Irvine, CA; Nine Grandchildren Brooke (Balázs) Gazdag, Lyndsey (David) Ploof, Ryan (Emily) Shaughnessy, Evan Shaughnessy, Chris (Courtney) Singer, Danielle (Alex) Popov, Marissa Bodell, Shawn Lake and Kyle Lake. Great Grandchildren Michael Rory Ploof and Nate Gilbert. One Brother-In-Law Paul Shaughnessy, Endicott, NY; many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Anna was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother and a great friend to many. Anna was a former member of the Our Lady Of Sorrows Alter and Rosary Society. Worked for EJ Shoe Company, Vestal Central Schools, Sears & Roebuck Company and volunteered at Hospitals in the Triple Cities. Anna along with her loving Husband Ed enjoyed their retirement years traveling and spending as much time as possible with their Children and Grandchildren. Anna’s most enjoyable time in the recent months has been the arrival of and spending Loving time with her First Great Grandson Michael Rory.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12 pm Saturday, December 14th at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street, Vestal. Burial will be in St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery, Little Meadows, PA, at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at church Saturday from 10:30 am until Mass time at 12 pm.
