Bette Ann Ihnot

Bette Ann (Barvinchak) Ihnot, 71, daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Barvinchak, went to her eternal rest on Sunday, October 4, 2015. She is survived by her devoted children and daughter-in-law, Kathryn Egan, Daniel and Tracy Ihnot, Colorado; her precious grandchildren, Paul and Beth Egan, and Finley Ihnot; her brothers and brother-in-law, George Barvinchak and Ray Roberge, and James Barvinchak, her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law,Ed and Judy Ihnot, and Ron Ihnot, her Uncle Paul and Aunt Stella Barvinchak, Aunts Blance Barvinchak and Margaret Watson, several cousins, nieces and nephews and their families, travel buddy, Ruth Chamberlain, and a blessed number of friends, especially the Lynch and Mulcahy families, who have provided endless support to Bette Ann’s family over the past years. Bette Ann was predeceased by her husband, Paul Ihnot, Godson, James Barvinchak, sister-in-law, Linda Barvinchak, brother-in-law, Robert Ihnot, and dear friend, Kay Lynch. Bette Ann loved to read, travel, host dinners/parties and make “adventures” with her grandchildren, usually including some sort of mischief.She loved the mountains in Colorado, the Atlantic Ocean in Ocean City, MD and Greene Turtle crab cakes.She was a huge fan of the Buffalo Bills, which caused great heartache. Bette Ann was proud of her Slovak Catholic heritage, was fondly adopted into the Irish community, and family traditions were of great importance to her. As a young adult, she worked at Ozalid in Vestal, where she met life-long friends. She then took on her most important and influential role as a mother.Bette Ann finished her career as a Literacy Volunteer, a Poll Official for Broome County and a GED exam administrator, working in the county jails. Bette Ann was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows for over 40years, participating in adoration, the prayer network, and the bereavement committee.She was a member and past officer of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians (LAOH) and a member of the American Carpatho-Russian Citizens Club (ACRC). Funeral Services will be held Thursday 9:30 from the Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church at 10 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City.The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Wednesday, from 2-4 pm and evening 6-8 pm.Expressions of sympathy in memory of Bette Ann may be made to the Mercy House of the Southern Tier 212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
