Betty M. Perry, 85, of Maine, NY, passed away, Friday, March 14, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband Richard (Dick) in 2001and her parents Robert and Orealia Piester, (Bob and Real). She is survived by a daughter Doreen (Jim) Treadwell, Harpursville; four sons Michael (Jane) Perry, Canaan, CT; Richard Mark Perry, Jr. (Teresa)Farragut, TN; Christopher (Diane) Perry, Peoria, IL and David (Suzanne) Perry, Port St. Lucie, FL; eight grandchildren Sara; Marc; Barbara; Richard III; Jonathon; Erik; Ian and Anna; four great grandchildren Rachel; Cooper; Richard Mark IV and Eleanor; two brothers Robert, Jr. (Phyllis) Piester, Ballston Spa, NY and Jeffrey (Gayle) Piester, Newark Valley. Betty was born in Hudson, NY, October 6, 1928 and was very proud of her Holland Dutch heritage. She was raised in Ballston Spa, NY and graduated from Ballston Spa High School, Class of ’46. She started her work career at General Electric, Schenectady, where she met her husband Dick and later transferred to the Westover, Johnson City plant. They moved to Endwell, then to the Town of Maine in 1959, and to the Hamlet of Maine in 1979. Betty started her career as the Town of Maine Clerk and tax Collector in 1974, where she loved her position and the people, retiring after 17 years of dedicated service. She was also an active member of Most Holy Rosary Church, Maine, for over 50 years. The family would like to thank the many people, who helped mom through the years, after dad passed, especially Sandy and Emil; Barb; Gladys; Johnny; Jeri; Frank and Karen; the Zunic Family and countless others, too many to mention………thanks so much, mom loved all of you.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday 9:15 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at Most Holy Rosary Church, Maine at 10 am. Burial will be in Maine Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Allen memorial Home, Tuesday from 4-7 pm.
