Bruce R. Hayes, 74, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away suddenly Saturday, June 13, 2015. He was predeceased by his parents John and Erdine Brauer. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Carolyn Hayes; his children, Todd R. Hayes and Stacey Rousseau and Brian J. and Lisa Hayes; grandchildren Heather; Haleigh; Tyler and Taylor; great grandchildren Savannah and Cassandra; a sister, Barbara Hayes Baltz, brothers; John (Patty) Brauer; Eric (Gay) Brauer; David (Kathy) Brauer; also several nieces; nephews and one sister in law Gladys A. Hughes. Bruce graduated in 1958 from Johnson City High School, Broome Community College in 1973 with an Associate Degree in Business, from Brown University and the Graduate School of Savings Banking in 1977. He worked at Binghamton Savings Bank for 39 years, retiring as Administrative Vice President and Head Auditor. He was a Treasurer for the Union Volunteer Emergency Squad, and was active in Endwell Rotary and the United Way. Bruce was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church and served as chairman of the finance committee. He lived every day for his family. Bruce loved going on trips and cruising the Caribbean with the people he loved. He adored his summer home at “The River” and cherished his moments on his boat. He was very kind and generous and his life was full of success, happiness and most importantly love. “You can’t do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth.” Evan Esar.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 11 am at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 711 Farm to Market Road, Endwell, with the Reverend Lisa Heckman, Pastor of his church officiating. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott Wednesday from 7-9 pm and Thursday at church from 9:30 am until service time at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union Volunteer Emergency Squad, Northminster Presbyterian Church or the Wounded Warrior Project.
