Bruce Tiffany Whitaker, 85, of Endwell, passed away, Saturday, June 21, 2014. He was born October 5, 1928 to Arline (Merrill) Whitaker in Johnson City. Predeceased by his parents. Survived by his wife of 63 years Patricia (Murtaugh) Whitaker, sons, Scott, Vestal; Brian, Binghamton and Timothy, Vestal. Three grandchildren, Tiffany, New Jersey; Trevor, New Jersey and Lauren, Pennsylvania. His brothers Benjamin and wife Ruth, Fort Worth, TX and their three children. He served as a Control Tower Operator in the USAF at the end of W.W. II. He returned to graduate from Binghamton Central High School in 1950. He was recalled to duty for the Korean War, for two years. He worked for the US Postal Service and retired as manager of the East Side Station. Bruce and Patricia enjoyed summers at their cottage at Quaker Lake and winters at their Englewood, Florida home. He enjoyed walking, dancing and golfing in spite of a disabling hip condition. Everyone knew him as a “Funny Guy”, always joking with friends and acquaintances. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1645, BPOE Elks Lodge #1977, Endicott and Retired Federal Employees Group, (NARFE).
