Carl Houghtalen

Carl R. Houghtalen, 85, of Conklin, died at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer Wednesday, May 7, 2014. He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Houghtalen Hughes and a son in law, Carl Houghtalen. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Betty J. Houghtalen; three daughters, Joan M. Houghtalen, Binghamton, Jean A. Houghtalen and fiancée Charles Ackley, Jr., Chenango Forks, and Sandy (John) Harrington, Richford, NY; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother and sister in law, Roger and Jeannette Houghtalen, Sayre, PA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Carl was a retired Singer Link employee retiring after thirty eight years of service as a cable designer, a job he truly loved and helped put a man on the moon. He attended the Conklin Presbyterian Church. Carl was a veteran of the US Navy.
Funeral and Interment Services will be held Monday at 4 pm from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott with the Reverend William Puckey officiating. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, Vestal at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Monday from 2 pm until service time at 4 pm.
