Carole Anita Pollack of Endicott NY passed away on Sunday October 23rd, 2022 after a brief illness surrounded by family. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Dr James A Pollack, and her parents, Aage and Louise Nymann. Carole is survived by her children Kristen Dorta (and son-in-law Nelson Dorta), Michael Pollack, Jeffrey Pollack and Rebecca Pollack; her dearest friend and companion Linda Bowgren; her grandchildren Ana Dorta, Lukas Dorta and Theo Dorta; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and the dearest of friends and family.
Carole graduated from Syossett High School in Syosset Long Island and the University of Rhode Island. She obtained a master’s degree in teaching from Columbia University and an MSW from Marymount University. She is a retired special education teacher and social worker from Tioga County Department of Mental health, who had a deep passion for helping children and families in need. In her spare time Carole found great joy in outdoors- in her gardens, in the mountains, and at the beach. She was an incredible talent- an artist, chef, seamstress, and designer who loved bringing her creative ideas to fruition. Her greatest passion, however, was for her children and grandchildren. She delighted in their every accomplishment and adventure. She was their most exuberant fan at sporting events and treasured her time with them telling stories, playing games, and sharing in all of their joys.
Carole left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She loved openly and fully and embraced every opportunity to welcome people into her family and her circle of love and friendship.
Services will be held Saturday 10 am at the Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Friday evening from 5-7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carole’s memory to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Please help continue Carole’s mission to help care for children.
