Catherine A. Salamida, 49, of Endicott, NY, went to be with her loving protector and constant helper, our Lord Jesus Christ on May 21, 2018, following an abrupt and severe illness.She was predeceased by her father, Paul R. Salamida, and her grandparents Toni and Marino Salamida and Kay and Mike Mangino. She is survived by her mother Paula (Mangino) Salamida (Lady Lake, FL), daughters Nadine Jones (Endicott), Raina Oliver (Johnson City), and Karah Salamida (Endicott), her grandchildren Bella Kay and Rilley Gent, and her brother Joseph (Jami) Salamida (West Virginia). She is also survived by her uncle Dominic (Coni) Salamida (Palmyra), aunt Marietta Salamida (Endicott), aunt Vicki (Rick) Mancini (Endicott), uncle Michael (Sue) Mangino (Endicott), uncle Tom (Maria) Mangino (Endicott), aunt Carole Mangino (Apalachin), aunt Bonnie Oakley (Endicott), and many, many dear cousins and lifelong friends. Cathy was a graduate of Union-Endicott High School. She was a certified nail technician, and the owner and operator of “Upscale Nail Detail” nail salon for more than 20 years. Cathy will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit, her spirituality, and her love of family. She had a quick wit, a wonderful sense of humor, and an inquisitive mind. Cathy will also be remembered for her love of nature, and her deep love for animals (particularly her dogs). The family extends a special thank you to the ICU staff at UHS for their kindness, excellent care, and support to the extended family.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 to 11 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 300 Odell Avenue, Endicott followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 am. Interment will be at a later date. The family requests that no flowers be sent please.
