Charles Joseph Barrett, 61, of Endwell passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at home on Tuesday, April 7, 2015. He was predeceased by his brother John Barrett. He is survived by his parents Charles and Kathryn Barrett, his beloved wife Amy, and two children Maureen and Patrick. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Ellen King; brother-in-law, Robert King; niece Kathleen Josey, and nephews Robert and Kevin King. He leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins and many devoted friends. Charlie’s greatest passion in life was spending time with family and friends who he loved unconditionally. Charlie graduated from Seton Catholic High School, Endicott, in 1972 and the University of Scranton in 1976. He began his accounting career with Price-Waterhouse in New York City while achieving his status as a Certified Public Accountant. He moved his family back to his home town of Endwell where he worked for Singer Link and Public Loan. Charlie’s ultimate goal was to establish his own CPA firm. After several locations he finally built his dream office creating the firm Barrett & Mahonski CPA’s. In the community, Charlie could be found volunteering for the church, Endwell Rotary, Meals on Wheels, and the Boy Scouts. He was the Financial Advisor for St Joseph’s Church. He also was an active member, an officer and the President from 2002-2003 of the Endwell Rotary and truly lived by the code “service above self”. He was the treasurer of Meals on Wheels of Western Broome County, and served on the Board of Catholic Charities. His passion for the Boy Scouts of American started at a young age when he became an Eagle Scout, as years went on he continued to be active in the scouting community, which lead to him receiving the prestige Silver Beaver Award for “Distinguished Service to Youth”.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 am at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church at 10 am.
