Charles “Chuck” Reardon

Charles J Reardon (Chuck), 94, of Endicott passed away on August 11, 2016 at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford, NY. He was predeceased by his wife Jean Morris Reardon in 2012, his parents Joseph P and Dora B. Reardon, brother John, sister Helen Mack and sister and brother-in-law Rita and Jack Morris. Chuck’s wife Jean was the youngest of twelve children in the Morris Clan. He was the sole survivor of this generation which included three brothers-in-law, eight sisters-in-law and their spouses. Chuck is survived by son Tim (Peggy), daughter Charlene, son Fran (Suzanne), son J. Patrick all of Endicott and son John, Fulton, NY, 11 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, his sister and brother in law Mary Frances and Thomas Decker Jr., of Whitney Point and brother in law Deacon Joseph Mack, Macedon, NY plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Chuck began his career with IBM immediately after graduating from High School in 1941. Within a few months he answered his country’s call and enlisted in the US Army, trained as a communication specialist and was ultimately assigned to 6 th Army Headquarters in the Pacific. During this time he received high security clearance due to processing sensitive information regarding troop movement and locations in the Pacific Theatre. After discharge from the Army in 1945, he returned to IBM and retired in 1978 with over 37 years of service. Chuck enjoyed playing cards, golf, travel, carpentry and wood working. He was frequently asked by family to do an addition on a home, build a garage, or remodel a room. He also used his woodworking talents to make various items for craft fairs and fund raisers for his church. Chuck was an active member at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. He chauffeured the Sisters assigned to OLGC to the children’s mass each Sunday. He served as an usher, a money counter, member of the Holy Name Society, Nocturnal Adoration Society and served on capital campaign committees for construction of the OLGC School, the Rectory and Church expansion. Chuck and Jean served on the original committee for the Parish St. Patrick’s Day Dinner and Irish Program. Additionally he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the 4th Degree Color Guard, American Legion Post 1700 and a volunteer for the BC Open and Meals on Wheels. The family wishes to thank the Doctors, Physician Assistants, Nurses, Nurse Practioners, Therapists, aids and staff who attended to Chuck during his time of residency at the NYS Veterans Home. Your care, concern, and compassion surpassed the family’s expectations.

The family will receive friends at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Burial, with military honors, will be in Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City.
