Chiara M. Liburdi

It is with profound sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Chiara Maria Liburdi, 46, on January 11, 2025.
She was predeceased by her grandparents Allan Small, and Mario and Assunta Liburdi. She is survived by her grandmother Gloria Small; her mother Debra Liburdi; sister Erica Liburdi; nephews and niece Caleb, Cruz, and Khloe; aunts Denise (James) Hadamik, Dawn (Peter) Hahlin; cousins Lee, (VJ) Morris, Cicely Hagin, Jessica (Joseph) Holley, Austin and Riley Morris and Kymora Wang; boyfriend Rodney Smith, best friend Pattie Stanko-Florance, She is survived by her father Francesco Liburdi, aunt Annunziata, uncle Sisto Magliocca, and cousin Ionela of Italy.
Chiara was born August 28,1978 in Johnson City, New York as a tiny, premature baby weighing 2.5 pounds. She fought for life and was so strong she caught up quickly to her peers. Chiara was a graduate of Union Endicott High School and earned two different degrees at the then Broome Community College. She loved music, dancing, camping, and dogs, especially her little dog TuTu.
Chiara was a beautiful woman inside and out. We will miss her gentle, loving nature and kindness of spirit. She loved her family and friends dearly, and was always there for them when needed. Chiara showed strength and grit as she did at the beginning of her life during the last nineteen years as she battled mental illness. She fought so bravely, but sadly she had no more strength to give. We, her family and friends, are heartbroken, but take solace in that she is no longer suffering and is now at peace.
The family wishes to thank all those who have reached out to us with kindness and support during this difficult time. We especially thank the Binghamton Police and the New York State Police for bringing Chiara home to us. We will never forget your tireless efforts.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am, Saturday, February 15 at Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at church Saturday, February 15 from 9:30 am until Mass time at 11 am.
