Concetta (Connie) Marie Salamido, 89, of Endicott, NY, passed away peacefully and went home to the Lord, with her husband Dom by her side, at the home of her son on March 10, 2021
She was predeceased by her parents, Andreas and Jennie Argento, sisters Antoinette (Angelo) and Mary (Trombetta), brothers-in-law Orlando (Ben) Trombetta and Franklin Polmateer.
Connie is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Dominic (Dom), her two sons Patrick (Sue) of Galena OH and Gary (Lisa) of Cary NC, five grandchildren Gianna Lenzo (Marc) of Mount Airy NC, Jordan Salamido of Sioux Falls SD, Gioia Salamido of Cary NC, Sofia and Dominic Salamido and Brent watson of Galena Ohio. and great grand-daughter Elianna Lenzo of Mount Airy NC. She is also survived by her sister Frances Polmateer and brother Vito Argento (Eleanor) of Endwell New York. Three nieces, Leona Deming (Alvin) of Ovid NY, Annette Jennings (Larry) of Warren Center, PA and Linda Pierce (Dan) of Seattle WA and one nephew and godson David Polmateer (Ellen) of Endicott along with many great nieces and nephews.
A longtime member of the Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Endicott where she was married to Dom in 1960 and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She will be missed by her friends Jean Reardon, Rose Fitzgerald, Natalie Cordileone, and Sharon DellaPenta and her incredible neighbors Max and Annette Hansen and Ryan, Meagan, Alaina, and Leah Farmer whose kindness, thoughtfulness, and love made always brought a smile to her face.
Connie most enjoyed her visits to the casino with Dom and her friends and cups of coffee and cake with friends and her family on Sunday evenings, holidays, and birthdays. Connie was an avid sports fan of her beloved, NY Yankees, NY Giants, any UEHS team, and the colleges her son’s and grandchildren attended, The University of Texas, The Ohio State University, NC State University, and Appalachian State University. Connie was never a bigger fan than for the teams her sons played for. She could always be heard from the stands, indoor or outside, cheering on her sons, their teams, and occasionally chastising an official. She will be remembered for her fierce loyalty to her family, tiny wine cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and chocolate and lemon pies, Italian wedding soup, and her love of playing pinochle and any other games with her family. Connie is retired from the Endicott Johnson Corporation.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday April 10th at 10 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 701 West Main Street, Endicott. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at church Saturday the 10th from 9 am until Mass time at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his/her memory may be made to the LUPUS Foundation of Southern New York (lupusnyst.org).
