Cynthia Bilsky

d. May 15, 2024

Cynthia Louise Bilsky, 65, of Johnson City, passed away on May 15th after a year long, hard-fought battle with brain cancer.
Cindy grew up in Chenango Bridge and attended Chenango Valley High School where she played basketball and was a member of the track team as a shot putter. After graduating from CV, Cindy went to Bloomsburg University to pursue a degree in special education. She then took courses towards her master’s degree at West Virginia University before completing her master’s degree at Binghamton University.
Cindy dedicated her career to helping individuals with special needs as a high school special education teacher for 31 years at Harpursville Central School District where she was adored by students and staff. During her retirement she enjoyed substitute teaching, volunteering at the Red Cross and the Broome County Dog Shelter, and volunteering as a coach for Broome Tioga Special Olympics. Cindy kept active during her retirement by walking her weenie dog Charlie, biking, attending various fitness classes, and running as a member of the Triple Cities Runners Club where she gained many lifelong friends. Of course, her favorite activity during retirement was spending time with her grandson, Lukas.
Cindy was known for her love of coffee, chocolate, koalas, the Wizard of Oz, the Bee Gees, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She was an avid fan of the NY Mets, the Miami Dolphins, and the West Virginia University Mountaineers.
Cindy is predeceased by her father, Eugene Craver, and her aunt, Lois Bennett. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Mark Bilsky, her daughter, Meredith (Sean) Kane, her grandson, Lukas Kane, her mother, Margaret Craver, her brother, Scott Craver, her aunts Ruthe Pasquale and Frances Koob, her niece, Lexi (Randy) Spoor, her nephew, Scottie Craver, and her great grandniece and nephews.
