Dana Potter from Binghamton, NY passed away on Friday, April 1, 2022 after a 2 year battle with cancer. He was known for his kindness, sense of humor, and compassion for others.
Dana was devoted to family and loved his friends but most especially he cherished his grandchildren. He is survived by his children Joel Potter, Justin Potter, and Emily Potter; caring siblings Sally Boll, Christine Wheatley, and Ken Potter; his grandchildren Noor Sabbah, Zayn Sabbah, Ali Sabbah, Willa Potter; and many nieces and nephews. Dana was a true legend of radio-broadcasting in the Southern Tier. He began his 47 year career with WNBF at the age of 20 and was a familiar local-on-air voice at WENE/WMRV. Later in his career, Dana was the Operations Manager at Magic 101.7 WLTB radio where he was employed for more than 25 years. Once his children had grown and moved from the family home, Dana found a love and passion for the ocean. He co-organized and sailed on yearly cruises to the Caribbean that sparked many new friendships. Dana was a long standing member of the board at The Handicapped Children’s Association.
Dana’s family is grateful to all of his doctors and nurses that fought alongside him during his illness. Most of all, the Potter family would like to express their appreciation to the nursing staff at The Mercy House of the Southern Tier for their professionalism, compassion, and dignity they shared while Dana’s was in their care.
The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, Friday evening from 5-8 pm. A celebration of life will be held in May. If you are interested in attending or would like to participate in planning please contact Justin Potter. Memorials in his remembrance may be made to: The Mercy House of the Southern Tier: https://mercyhousesoutherntier.com or The Handicapped Children’s Association: https://www.hcaserves.com.
