Darlene Hicks

Darlene (Warfield) Hicks, 71 of Endicott NY passed away on Saturday August 14th, 2021. She was predeceased by her son Jay Lucia and father Richard Warfield. Darlene is survived by her loving Son, Ed (Vicki) Lucia and two granddaughters Hali and Alexa Lucia. Her Mother Jean Warfield, Sisters; Donna (Ken) Ambra Valerie Warfield and Brother Rick (Kathy) Warfield. Her nieces Melissa Keech, Andrea Warner, Leia McCoy, Nephews; Brian Keech, Matthew Fiori, Lang Charters. Several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Darlene graduated from Union Endicott High School, lived in Dryden NY, Syracuse NY, and North Carolina.
Darlene worked as the Executive Secretary to the Executive Director at The American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). Darlene formed many Professional and personal relationships during her 20 years with the ABA.
Darlene had many dear friends from both North Carolina and Endicott, she returned to Endicott in 2018 to be near her loving family and friends during her courageous battle with ALS. Despite the toll ALS takes on one’s body, you could always find Dar with a big smile, a positive attitude, and happy to see you. Darlene resided at Ideal Nursing Center and formed relationships with the nursing staff. The family thanks Ideal Nursing Center for their care and attention to Darlene. Also special thanks to her dear friend Debi Ohara for her love and friendship especially during her final weeks, and to all her other special friends from Endicott and North Carolina, Darlene sends her love and appreciation.
Darlene had a big heart and loved her Son’s Eddie and Jay to the fullest and adored her two granddaughters Hali & Alexa who were the twinkle in her eyes.
She was a loving Daughter, Sister and Aunt. Darlene was Blessed to have her mother, Jean Warfield by her side daily. Darlene will be remembered for her beautiful smile, and love for her family and friends. She lived her life with much grace and dignity.
Darlene had a passion for the ocean. While living in NC she enjoyed times visiting the coast, specifically Emerald Island and North Topsail Island. She was always an avid walker she would tirelessly walk the beaches for miles enjoying the sound of the ocean, the smell of the salty breeze with the sand beneath her feet.
Dalene will be missed by many and forgotten by none. Darlene will join her son Jay and her father Richard in heaven.
A memorial celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, August 21, 2021. Calling hours are from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, with Service following at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott.
