Dinos spent his childhood in Mistras with his parents and four siblings. In his youth he enjoyed playing soccer and hunting. He emigrated to the United States around 1952 with the help of his sister Maria, and started working for the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company. What little money he earned he helped his sister, was a generous Theo to her two daughters and sent what he could back home to his parents.
He met his wife, Ada Stamatakos, at a wedding in Toronto, Canada, where she had emigrated to from Molaoi, Greece. They married in 1962 in Toronto, Canada and settled in Binghamton, NY. There they raised their two sons. During this time Dinos was working at the Spot Restaurant, Binghamton, NY until he retired around age 70. He enjoyed time with his family and especially with his grandchildren. He and his wife often hosted large holiday meals at their home. They also traveled to Toronto and Montreal Canada, and to different areas in Greece to visit with relatives and friends. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Vestal, NY. In his younger years he could often be found cooking for the Church’s yearly Greek Festival. The family would like to thank the medical caregivers at UHS Wilson Medical Center for the compassionate care they provided to him at the end of his life.
