Dolores J. Adams (Dee) 89, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Wilson Hospital after a recent illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Wallace and Mary (Lesko) Gow, husband George C. Adams, brother Wallace Gow II and sister Patricia Dodd. Dolores is survived by her loving daughters, Deborra (Michael) Kocik and Robin (Richard) Chalachan, beloved granddaughters, Caitlyne Kocik and Rachael Chalachan, several in-laws, nieces, nephews, as well as very special friends Patricia Croom and Dick and Debbie Moulton who added so much joy to her life.
Dolores graduated from Binghamton North Senior High School and spent many years working as a bookkeeper at various grocery stores in the area, retiring at the age of 67. She was a dedicated worker and enjoyed interacting with customers and co-workers alike.
Family was first and foremost to Dolores. She loved them deeply and made efforts throughout her life to visit, keep in touch, and care for them. She was very close to her daughters and absolutely adored her granddaughters. They treasured her just the same. Dolores had a quiet strength and positive outlook that served her throughout life. She would say, “life is what you make it”, and welcomed each new year as a gift. She truly cared for people, was compassionate and kind, and lead by example. She loved animals, especially dogs, and seemed to share a special bond with them. It was as if they could sense the love she had for them, and were eager to show theirs in return.
Dolores was still living on her own and driving right up to the day before she went to the ER. We should all be so fortunate. The family would like to thank the staff at Wilson Hospital ER and North Tower 3 for the care they provided Dolores in her last days. As a family, our hearts are broken, but the memories and love we shared will help us heal. We will be grateful, as she was, for the life we have.
A private memorial service will be held at Allen Memorial Funeral Home at the convenience of the family. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution, please consider the Broome County Dog Shelter, 110 Cutler Pond Road, Binghamton, NY 13905.
