Donald F. Jackson

Jackson, Donald F. “Dobbler”, of Endwell, N.Y passed into the hands of the Lord on September 26, 2012 at Elizabeth Church Manor due initially to a stroke. He was born in Endicott, NY, graduated from U-E High School in 1942 and entered the IBM workforce. Enlisted in the Navy and served as EM 2/C on the USS Cod submarine based out of Perth, Australia while on active duty during W.W. II. After discharge Don continued his employ with IBM in Endicott until retiring after 39 years of service. Don is predeceased by his parents, Glenn and Ina Jackson and his brothers, Harold (Harry), Richard (Dick) and Kenneth (Ken). He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Jean; and their daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Gary Crowley of Binghamton. He is also survived by sisters-in-law; Betty Harrington of Endicott, NY, and Anne Jackson of Columbia, TN, and Phyllis Jackson of Raleigh, NC as well as his ever favorite nieces and nephews, several beloved cousins and dear friends. Don was a member and Treasurer of the O L Davis Fire Co and Fire Commissioner of the Endwell Fire Dept and served for several years. He was a member of the Endwell United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 82, and Vice President of the Binghamton Southern Tier Chapter of U.S. Submarine Veterans of WWII, a life member of the United States Submarine Veterans Holland Club, the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #1977 and a member of the Kentucky Colonels. His favorite times were spent with his family and friends at Sandy Pond, creating many enduring memories. He enjoyed snowmobiling and hunting and was an avid and devoted fan of the New York Giants and the New York Yankees. He was a supporter of the BU Bearcats Men’s and Woman’s Basketball and enjoyed his spirited friends in Section 114. He will be extremely missed and memories of him and his legacy will forever be etched in the minds and hearts of his family, who love him so dearly. The family would like to give special thanks to the following: Dr. Lazarus Gehring and his caring staff at Endwell Family Physicians, Twin Tiers Home Health Care Services, the Intensive Care Unit at UHS Wilson Medical Center, and staff at Elizabeth Church Manor especially the Physical, Speech and Occupational Therapy Units, First Floor Rehabilitation and Second Floor Nursing Units. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 1 pm from the Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, with the Reverend Janet Abel officiating. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Tuesday, 12 pm until service time at 1 pm. Please consider donations to the charity of one/s choice in his remembrance.
