Doris Hlavac of Endicott passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the home of her daughter and son-in law, Diane and Bill Buckly of Northport, FL. She was predeceased by her parents Harry and Elizabeth Buckley, her husband Jerry Hlavac and son John Hlavac. She is survived by her daughter, Diane and her husband, Bill Buckley; her son, James and his wife, Katie Scott-Hlavac of Endwell; daughter in law Tina Hlavac of Endwell; six siblings in Stafford, England; and all of her special grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Doris was born in 1926 and lived in Stafford, England until W.W.II, when she met a special “Yank” Jerry Hlavac. At the age of 19 she left home and came to Endicott, a small town she couldn’t even find on a map and where no one spoke English. She and Jerry made a home and raised a family there together for 64 years. Doris was very proud of her English Heritage and was a proud patriot of her new home in the USA. Doris loved a good joke, conversation, a cup of tea, and most of all family. Doris was a homemaker and belonged to St. Joseph’s Parish in Endicott. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 12 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 207 Hayes Avenue, Endicott. The family will receive friends and family at church Saturday from 10 am until Mass time at 12 pm.
