Doris Jane (Rowlands) Moses, 85, of Endwell, NY, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018. She was preceded in death in 1992 by her loving husband, Donald L. Moses, and her parents Jack Rowlands and Edith (Morris) Rowlands and stepmother Alma (Corman) Rowlands, and many special friends. Doris is survived by her adoring family: two daughters Janet Moses of Alexandria, VA, Diane and Chris Volkmar of Cary, NC; two sons Jack and Kathy Moses of Endwell, NY, and Richard Moses of Endicott, NY; grandchildren Alex and Ryan Moses, Connor and Bethany Volkmar; nieces, a nephew, many cousins, and special family friend Terese Kar. She graduated from Benton TWP High School in Fleetville, PA, and obtained a BS in Music Education from West Chester University in PA. She started teaching piano lessons in the 10th grade, and was a music teacher for the Lebanon Jackson School District in PA, and the Union-Endicott School District in NY before staying at home with her growing family. She taught piano lessons in her home for many years. Doris will be remembered as kind, patient, loving and generous. Her greatest love was spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren whom she adored. As an only child, Doris enjoyed spending time with her cousins growing up. She was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church since 1959 and served as a Sunday school teacher, Deacon, choir member, Girls Choir director, Morning Circle member and backup organist. She was a 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, as well as the Welsh Society of Binghamton, Stepping Stones Quilt Guild, Common Threads Quilt Club, Knitting Club, and Lyndale Woman’s Club. She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den leader, and at various Binghamton area arts events. Travelling was one of her passions, touring many countries including Italy, Wales, France, England, Scotland, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Aruba, and Canada, and every US state. The family wishes to thank the staff of Good Shepherd Village at Endwell for the loving care given to Doris and her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11 am Saturday at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 711 Farm to Market Road, Endwell. Burial will be at Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott Friday from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Good Shepherd Employee Recognition Fund, c/o Good Shepherd Community Foundation, 32 Village Drive, Endwell, NY 13760 or Northminster Presbyterian Church.
