With gentle patience and understanding, she guided her children to reach their hopes and dreams. James and Carol Lavo, Jeanne and Richard Brhel, son-in-law William Blazey, Karl and Kathy Lavo, and Raymond and Amy Lavo cherish many fond memories of their exceptional mother. She was dedicated and proud of her 15 grandchildren: James (Rebecca) Lavo, John Paul Lavo, Amy (Doug) Gregor, Sharon Lavo, David Brhel, Kimberley (Jamie) Clark, Christopher Brhel, William (Andrew) Blazey, Matthew (Tonia) Blazey, Jennifer (Scott) LaVare, Kristin (Alex) Dilello, Lauren (Joseph) Pendenza, Brandon Lavo, Abigail Lavo, and her 16 great-grandchildren. Dorothy lived her entire life in Endicott, NY where she worked at a young age at Endicott Johnson. After raising 5 children, she became an LPN and worked at Wilson, General, and Lourdes hospitals. She was dedicated to her faith and was a member of Our Lady of Good Council/St. Ambrose parish. She was devoted to a weekly station at the Perpetual Adoration Chapel for many years, member of the Legion of Mary, and provided communion to local nursing home residents. In addition, she delivered Meals on Wheels and was a volunteer poll worker during election day. She always set a perfect example of how to live life to its fullest and was an inspiration to those whose lives she touched. We would like to thank the staff on Seton 1, Dr. Vincens, Dr. Miller, Melissa Skiadas, and the ladies from Home Instead who took gentle care of our Mom.
Her family will receive friends at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 701 West Main St., Endicott on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 10:00-11:00 am with a Funeral Mass celebrated at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY. In lieu of flowers kindly consider expressions of sympathy in her memory. They may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Mercy House of the Southern Tier, or a charity of your preference.
