Dorothy Monforte

Our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Dorothy Monforte, 91, passed away peacefully at her home on New Year’s Day 2022, surrounded by her family. For 60 years she was married to her devoted husband, Rocco (Rocky), who predeceased her in 2017. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Lissa Monforte Connelly of Johnson City, daughter Michele (Shelly) Monforte and son-in-law, George McCroy, of Albany, granddaughter, Hannah Connelly, and grandson-in-law, Bill Boemmels, of Endwell, her brother-in-law, Joe (Marguerite) Monforte, and many dear nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was born in Binghamton, daughter of the late Mary (née Stephas) and Joseph Brezowsky. She was predeceased by her brother and four sisters: Helen (Paul) Valachovic, Joseph (Mary) Priest, Anna (Clifford) Cross, Pauline Scherer, and Mary (Chester) Maston. She was also predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Pat (Lillian) Monforte and Marty (Shirley) Monforte, and sister-in-law, Faye (Lou) Hinze.
Dorothy loved to go on many afternoon car rides with Rocky. Her kitchen was always filled with the aromas of her baked goods. Family and friends were never allowed to leave empty-handed. When she wasn’t baking the world’s best chocolate chip cookies, you could find her outside tending to her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, as well as caring for her much-loved cats throughout the years.
Most of all, Dorothy enjoyed raising and being in the company of her three girls: Lissa, Shelly, and Hannah. She spent a lifetime sharing in their joy and special moments, exhibiting endless love, and offering her tireless support. She taught less often with words than by example. Her warm heart and legacy live on in all three of them.
Thank you for a lifetime of loving us, believing in us, and for putting our hopes, dreams, and needs ahead of your own. If all these expressions of her love were written down, they would fill countless volumes.
