Douglas George Geiser, Jr. November 22, 2019. Dougie was born with challenging health issues and later diagnosed with cerebral palsy. In a different time and different place there would have been few options to seek help for him. But he was born into a society that valued him and a family that cherished him. He was especially loved by his maternal grandparents Mary and Michael Pecka. Dougie was also predeceased by his grandparents Louise and Harold Geiser and his father Douglas Geiser. Dougie spent many years at Broome Developmental Center where he had the most incredible and innovative people in his life. They moved through the challenges of his care and gave him the fullest life possible. I will always be grateful to all of them. After BDC closed, Dougie was welcomed into a residential home administered by Helping Celebrate Abilities. In a home surrounded by a small group of his friends from BDC, Dougie spent his happiest and most peaceful years. Dougie’s contagious smile was his gift to those who cared for him and you only had to spend a moment by his side to receive it. From the doctors and nurses at UHS, the dedicated BDC staff, and then to the wonderful home, staff/family at HCA, Dougie has experienced the love of many. Rest in peace my beautiful son, Dougie’s mom, Michaelene.
Dougie is also survived by Ken Parker who was like a father to him, his uncle Michael (Kathy) Pecka, special cousins Nita Watkins and Holly Sullivan. Also a special friend Amanda who visited often to play her harp just for Dougie.
