Douglas Joseph Kendall of Vestal, NY passed away peacefully on May 13, 2019 at Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Douglas was born on November 13, 1946 in Albany NY. He is predeceased by his mother Pauline Padula and his brother James Kendall. He is survived by his wife Cindy, his brother Vincent Padula of Albany NY, his three sons, Douglas J Kendall Jr of Virginia Beach, VA, David P Kendall and his wife Denise of Endicott, NY, and William V Kendall and his wife Stephanie of Maine, NY, and their mother Patricia A Vitanza of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, Tyler Kendall, Stephanie Kendall, Mercedes Kendall, Joshua Kendall, Hayden Kendall, Brianna Kendall, Sarah Kendall, Caroline Kendall, Elisabeth Kendall, and Payton Kendall, as well as his great grandson Mason Kendall.
Douglas graduated from Bishop Gibbons Catholic High School in Schenectady NY in 1964 and Hudson Valley Community College in Troy NY in 1967. He subsequently joined IBM, later Lockheed Martin in Owego NY where he retired after 43 years, holding numerous engineering and managerial positions that during his tenure found him on assignment at military installations in Florida, California, Germany and the Philippines.
Douglas was an avid sports fan, specifically of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He also enjoyed playing football and baseball in high school, as well as IBM CC flag football, softball and soccer leagues. He especially enjoyed golfing with his friends and sons.
Visitation hours will be held at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott Tuesday May 28th from 11 am to 1 pm, with a memorial service at 1 pm. Douglas will be buried at Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with private services at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.donations.diabetes.org.
