Earl F. Hill, 95, of Endicott, passed away peacefully at the Ideal Nursing Home on February 21, 2024. He was born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania to Earl and Amanda Bomboy Hill in 1928 and graduated from Forty Fort High School in 1946. A veteran of WWII, he served in the US Army in Okinawa as a radio repairman. He attended Wilkes College and DeForest Institute in Chicago on the GI Bill, then worked as a disk jockey in Carbondale, PA before joining IBM in 1952. The next year he married Patricia (Pat) Cederborg, his wife of 70 years. He worked at IBM in Endicott for 38 years as a Quality Engineer. He was made a lifetime member of the Campville Volunteer Fire Department after serving for over 30 years, holding every office but Chief. After retiring from IBM, Earl and Pat enjoyed traveling all over the country in their RV and playing golf. Earl was a renowned pool player. He was a beloved husband and father who could fix anything, and was a thoroughly good and decent man. He was predeceased by his son Raymond Hill. He is survived by Pat, his wife; three daughters Bonnie (Donna) Hill of South Sutton,
NH; Nancy (Pierre) Plante of New Bedford, MA; Jane (Norman) Kirk of Montgomery, NY; two sons Steven (Barbara) Hill of Endwell and Carl (Veronica) Hill of Hyde Park, NY; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews, and his sister-in-law Margaret Scalzo. The family is very grateful to the Campville Fire Department Rescue Squad, and the staff at Ideal Senior Living Center Skilled Nursing Facility for the care that they gave Earl.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 1st at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Friday, March 1st from 1 pm until service time at 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Earl’s memory to the Campville Fire Rescue Squad.
