Earl Steenburg

Earl Dewey Steenburg, 92, of Apalachin, passed away at Riverview Manor Health Care Center in Owego on July 6, 2015. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Betty Jane, his sisters Elsie and Zena and his brother Eugene. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lauretta and Joseph Weller, Auburn, NY; a son and daughter-in-law, Earl David and Stephanie Steenburg, Cocoa Beach, FL; three grandsons, Earl and James Steenburg and Edward Fry; a great-granddaughter Sadie Steenburg; several nieces, nephews and cousins; many devoted caregivers; and dear friends Jewel Maliner and Kathryn Zepkowski. Earl loved his family and friends and he will be dearly missed. Earl went to work for IBM directly after graduation from Vestal High School and, with the exception of service with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, continued working there until his retirement in 1982. He began work as a tool and die maker and progressed through several managerial positions.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 4 pm from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Saturday from 2 pm until service time at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 59 Court Street, Binghamton, NY 13901.
