Edward “Ed” Abdallah

d. March 29, 2022

Ed Abdallah passed away unexpectedly on March 29, 2022 at University Hospital, Syracuse surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 23, 1954 at Wilson Hospital, Johnson City, NY. He was predeceased by his mother Ethel and father
K. Edward Abdallah. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Sandra and daughter Emily, sister Merry Jones and brothers-in-law Doug Jones and Michael Sharak. Also an aunt, Katherine Moore, nieces Keli Mazikewich, Kara Jones, Meghan Ando and Michaela Sharak.
Ed graduated from Broome Community College with an Associates degree and SUNY Brockport with a Bachelor of Science degree in political science. He worked 42 years in investment services in the banking, brokerage and the insurance industries. He was a State Farm Agent and owned Ed Abdallah State Farm in Liberty NY.
Ed was a salesman at heart, had an outgoing personality and easily made lifelong friends. There wasn’t a place he went that he didn’t meet someone he knew. He had a sarcastic dry wit that would make people smile and loved good food, an aged scotch, Cuban cigar or listening to Hall & Oats.
He was passionate about the Yankees and loved everything having to do with Mickey Mantle and politics.
Ed was involved in community service and found it hard to say ‘no’ when asked to be on a committee. He was Past President of Endicott Rotary, member of Vestal Rotary and chairman of the annual cross country bus trip for the student exchange program. He was on the board of directors of the Boys and Girls Club Endicott and the West Family Y. Ed was league commissioner of the Chenango Forks Community Association girls softball program. He coached softball clinics, travel softball teams, and was Assistant Softball Coach at Broome Community College. He most recently was an umpire for the Umpire Association. He was a member of Dormition of the Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Church where he was on the church council. He had many life accomplishments and responsibilities but nothing was more important to him than his wife and daughter. He was most proud of his daughter Emily and loved her from the bottom of his heart. We can’t imagine life without him.
Funeral Services will be held Monday 10 am at Dormition of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, 54 Baxter Street, Binghamton. Burial will be in the parish cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, Sunday from 2 to 5 pm with a Panahida (prayer service) at 2 pm. .
