Edward Tartanian, 91, of Glen Aubrey, NY , April 23, 1925- February 18, 2017. Heaven has just been blessed with the presence of Edward Tartanian who passed away peacefully on February 18, 2017. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Betty Tartanian. He was also recently predeceased by his cousin, Alice Hopkins. He is survived by three sons: Jim Tartanian, David Tartanian (Lea), and Steve Tartanian; one sister, Mary Tartanian (Charlie); one brother, Jack Tartanian who lives in North Carolina; his grandson Brandon Tartanian who resides in North Carolina with his wife Ashley and two children as well as, several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to extend a special ‘thank you’ to Gregory Lane (Tennessee); Matthew Lane (Maine, NY), Lily Walker (Dale) (Arizona), and her sister Ivy (Arizona); and mother Esther Walker. They loved Ed dearly. They have kept in touch, and they always made it a point to visit Ed when in our area. Ed served in the Navy during WWII. He retired from IBM after 24 years of service. He was an honorary board member of Square Deal Sportsmans, Inc. He always loved attending family dinners over the years, especially on special occasions and holidays. He kept a vegetable garden for many years which was his pride and joy. He loved working outdoors, especially cutting and splitting wood. He also cared for and loved numerous pets, especially his cat, “Muffy.” People who knew him will certainly recall that each time he answered the telephone, he would say, “how do!” which was one of his unique qualities. He will be greatly missed.
At Edward’s request there will be no service. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that donations to be made to Meals on Wheels, 705 West Main Street, Endicott, NY 13760 or The Animal Care Council, 141 Washington Avenue, Endicott, New York 13760.
