Eleanor Mrva

Eleanor M. Mrva, 82, of Owego, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the James G. Johnston Nursing Home, Johnson City. She was predeceased by her husband John Mrva; sisters Margaret Sullivan and Louise (Charles) Perkins and a brother Thomas Hickey. She is survived by three daughters and sons in law, Nancy and Robert Perkins, Portsmouth, VA; Margaret and Edward Head, Newark Valley; Patricia and Brian Smith, Florida/New York; a son and daughter in law, John and Linda Mrva, Apollo Bay, Fl; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister and brother in law, Julieann and Daniel Mullane; brother in law, Jack Sullivan and several nieces and nephews. Eleanor was the owner of Ellie’s Country Casuals in Owego for many years. She was an avid gardener, bridge player and reader and also loved to play golf and downhill ski.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 4 pm from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Saturday from 2 pm until service time at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 401 Hayes Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
