Elvin D. “Al” Bowen, 88, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Rosemary in 2009. He is survived by three daughters and sons in law, Jane K. and Clyde Pierce, Riverview, FL; Carol Jankuv, Boca Raton, FL; Susan and Rick Bongiorno, Endicott; granddaughters, Jennifer Ferro, Orlando, FL and Vanessa Bongiorno, Endicott; grandsons, Clint Ferro, Endicott; Alex and Tyler Jankuv, Boca Raton, FL and Cody Pierce, Riverview, FL; a sister and brother in law, Shirley and Jeff Chamberlin, Apalachin; sister in law Buddy Bowen, Endicott. He was a member of Union Center United Methodist Church, Endicott, a retired IBM Corp employee, retiring in 1984, after 38 years of service and was also a member of its Quarter Century Club. Al was veteran of W.W. II, serving in the Army Air Corps as 2nd Lt. and was a past Commander and past Chaplin of the American Legion Post 89, Vestal. The family would like to thank the staff on Daisy Court of Ideal Senior Living Center, Endicott, for all their compassionate care and support.
Services will be held Saturday 12 pm from Union Center United Methodist Church, Maple Drive, Endicott, with the Reverend Brown Naik, Pastor of his church officiating. The family will receive friends at church Saturday from 10 am until service time at 12 pm.
