Eric H. Heggelke

Eric Heggelke, 64, of Johnson City, NY passed away surrounded by his loved ones Monday, September 23rd 2024. He is predeceased by his parents Albert (“Bucky”) and Marcia Heggelke, his grandson Abel Williams, and his Uncle Keith (“Tom”) Heggelke. Eric is survived by his wife Diana, mother-in-law and father-in-law Michael and Paulina Patsellis, Aunt Josie Heggelke, sons Blake (Melanie) Riek, Nathan (Kelly) Sorensen, Daniel (Amber Van Ness) Sorensen, Bryan Riek, daughter Jennifer (Jordan Finkelstein), grandchildren Zoey and Josiah Riek, Dean and Nicholas Sorensen, Cole Riek, Ruby Sickmon, brother Kurt and nephew Derek, sister Kristi Flanigan and nephew Shane, and many beloved cousins and friends. Eric was a faithful Christian and a member of First Baptist Church in Johnson City where he enjoyed bringing his grandchildren to Sunday services. He was a highly-skilled and sought after mechanic, beginning his career at Signorelli’s in Endicott and for the last decade at Botnick Chevrolet where he called many coworkers friends. He worked on cars his whole life and loved drag racing, which became a family pastime and tradition where many happy memories were made. Eric was a paragon of integrity and selflessness; many people leaned on him for advice or aspired to be like him. He was essentially “everyone’s dad.” He and his wife Diana shared a special love, overcoming many challenges together and growing closer with every passing year. Their bond transcends time and life itself, and Diana finds comfort in knowing they will be together for eternity.
Calling hours will be held Saturday September 28th at 9:30 AM with a service to follow at 11:00 at First Baptist Church: 1321 Reynolds Rd. Johnson City, NY 13790. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), PreBorn, or CHOW.
