Our beloved Erik M. Colon, 36, died at Albany Medical Center on September 3, 2017 after an extended illness. He is predeceased by his father, Hector M. Colon, aunt, Gladys Colon, and aunt and uncle Mimi and Louie Del Valle. Erik is survived by his wife, Ivy, daughter, Adrienne Colon, mother, Milagros Colon, and brothers Andy and Joey Colon. He is also survived by his nephews Alex and Aiden and nieces Avianna and Janihyah, along with several cousins, uncles, aunts and many devoted family friends. Erik’s passion for his family, his students and the university community will continue to live on through his impact. He loved being involved in community service projects, traveling, technology gadgets, jigsaw puzzles and dancing. His affiliations included Academic Counselor, Educational Opportunity Program at Binghamton University and served as Parliamentarian for the Faculty and Staff of Color Association. A member of the American College Personnel Association (ACPA), National Academic Advisors Association (NACADA), served as the NACADA New York state representative for Region 1 and as registration co-chair for its Regional Conference.
The family will receive friends at Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott Thursday, September 14th from 5-9 pm with a service at 7 pm. Expressions of sympathy in his memory can be made to his daughter’s college fund. Donations can be mailed to the Colon Family at 331 Arthur Avenue Johnson City, NY 13790.
