Our beloved mother, Ethel Butler, 97, entered eternal rest into Jesus’ loving arms on August 15, 2022 – the Feast of the Assumption. She resided in Endwell, NY for most of her life but was born in Pittsburgh; daughter of Felix and Elizabeth Buchek - young Eastern European immigrants who pursued the ‘which way EJ’ dream. Ethel was an independent thinker and strong-willed – traits admired by her daughter, among others. Her life was centered with devotion to God and her family. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband in 2013 of over 60 years, Edward F. Butler, along with her two brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and her loving canine companion, Max. Left to cherish her memory is her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Francine and Hall Groat II; son and daughter-in-law, Edward J and Debbie Butler, two grandchildren (Eddie and Christine) and several nieces and nephews. There will be a private Mass at St Ambrose Church at the convenience of the family with interment at Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City. Expressions of sympathy can be made as a form a Mass request for her from St. Ambrose Church, 203 Washington Avenue, Endicott, NY, 13760.
