Eugene “Gene” Mccarthy

Eugene G. McCarthy, 85 of Warren Center, PA and formerly Vestal, NY passed away on July 28, 2015 after a short illness and abundant life. With family and best friend by his side, this loving father, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully in his home. He was predeceased by his parents Mabel (Card) McCarthy and Jeremiah McCarthy and brother, Frank McCarthy. Gene is survived by his loving children; Timothy McCarthy, Christopher (Jennifer) McCarthy, Margaret McCarthy, Theresa (Nicholas) Taro, James McCarthy, Joseph McCarthy, his grandchildren; Vanessa, Taylor, Hannah, Tessa, Nicholas and Zachary, the mother of their children, Anne McCarthy, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friend and caregiver, Rebecca Simmons. Gene was a U.S. Army Veteran who participated in the Korean Conflict and retired from IBM where he worked for 34 years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He immensely enjoyed his family and friends, quiet evenings listening to country music, sporting events, visiting on the porch, and fishing at his peaceful lake home in “God’s country”.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott with Reverend David C. Seaver officiating. Burial will be in Snyder’s Cemetery in Lawton, PA. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Friday from 4-7 pm.
