Eulanda Patricia Mace, know to everyone as Pat, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Wilson Hospital, Johnson City, NY. She was born on April 19, 1920 in Carnegie, Pennsylvania. She was predeceased by her parents, Dominick and Santa Julian; her first husband of 33 years, Ross M. Vivona; daughter, Antoinette Giammichele; brothers, Joseph and Orlando Julian; and sister, Mary Herendza. She is survived by her brother, Andy (Alice) Julian, Boston, MA; her husband of 35 years, John; her sons, Ross (Cathy) Vivona, Riverdale, FL; Jack (Pinky)Vivona, Damascus, MD; her daughters, Barbara (Al) Capodaglio, Johnson City, NY; her very lovable special needs daughter, Geraldine Vivona, Endicott, NY; and eight wonderful grandchildren and four beautiful great grandchildren. Besides her family, in recent years Pat found a lot of joy and comfort with her twelve pound dog “Chipper” who was adopted as a Dachshund mix from the Broome County Animal Shelter. While walking Chipper a couple of years later, a friendly “cable guy” approached and advised he believed Chipper was actually a designer breed, a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix, pronounced (but not necessarily spelled)”Chiweenie”. It was an enjoyable discovery. During her many Endicott years, Pat enjoyed membership in the churches of St. Ambrose and Our Lady of Good Counsel, she provided prayer and spiritual guidance to many over the years. She was a former president of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was an active participant in praise and prayer groups and Charismatic Masses at St. Patrick’s in Owego, NY, all designed to encourage the out pouring of the Holy Spirit. In recent years, she and a prayer partner prayed over people in the Healing Mass at St. Mary’s in Binghamton, NY. Pat was a very joyful and vivacious person and could light up a room whenever she entered. The strength of her life was her undying love and complete trust in Jesus Christ for all things. She helped many hurting people and was very natural in introducing God into any conversation. She helped professional people with their inter personal relationships, helped to repair marriages, prayed for physical and emotional healings, all the while steering people to a relationship with God, and successfully prayed over several heavy smokers to lose their desire for tobacco, which they miraculously did. She led a very normal life. She was not a crusader, but would only react to help someone when asked or when she recognized a pressing situation. She never let “political correctness” be an obstacle when bringing up a persons need for God. She could speak with confidence with an insight seemingly beyond her academic and religious background. Those around her, believed that she and the Holy Spirit “teamed-up” when addressing a serious problem - a relationship gift we all have but often fail to nurture. She had no spiritual vanity but always thanked God for His input. Always, as her main objective, she would, when appropriate and taking her time, gently bring people back to God and their church - resulting not just to the level of one hour of worship per week on Sundays, but often with an enthusiastic hunger to seek more of the revealed word of God. Pat, you will be missed. Visitation will be at Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main St., Endicott, Friday, November 9th from 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 9:30 am at the Allen Memorial Home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 am. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 701 West Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. As Pat always had much compassion for hurting children and was always a strong advocate for her special daughter, “Geri”, we know she would appreciate donations to St. Jude’s Hospital or to the Special Olympics Program. The family wishes to thank all involved staff members of Wilson Hospital and the Hospice Program for their sensitive handling of Pat during her last days, keeping her comfortable and pain-free. And we all thank God for letting us have Pat down here with us for 92 short years.
