Evelyn M. O’Hara, 91, of Endicott, New York passed away peacefully at Ideal Skilled Nursing Facility on October 16, 2022. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 72 years, James A. O’Hara; her mother and father, Marguerite and Louis Dellapenta, and infant sister, Mary Dellapenta. She is survived by her son, James L. (Carol A.) O’Hara; grandchildren, Devon O’Hara, Ashlee (Rob) Holmes and Colleen O’Hara. She is also survived by her loving sister, Marie Cordileone; her niece, Sherry Sirmons and family; and nephew, Robert Cordileone and family. Evelyn graduated from Union Endicott High School in 1949. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She retired from IBM Corporation after a 36-year career, ending with a management position at the Glendale Laboratories cafeteria. Evie enjoyed having the family over for Sunday dinner, and any time you visited her, you were sure to get offered coffee and pastries. Her granddaughters were her pride and joy, and she was always ready to baby-sit at a moment’s notice. She often would tell her young grandchildren, that she, at one time, was the worlds shortest Radio City Rockette. In her later years, she and Jim were spending their winters on Florida’s east coast at Cocoa Beach. Playing dominoes, shopping, beach sitting and lunch with her girlfriends easily became her new way of life. Evelyn’s family would like to thank the staff at Ideal Senior Living Center 4th floor, as well as the staff at Ideal Nursing facility, Violet Court, for their exceptional care and professionalism while she was a resident.
A Funeral Mass for Evelyn will be held Thursday at 10 am at St. Josephs Church, 207 Hayes Ave, Endicott. Internment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Charity of your choice.
