Everett “Ezra” Lachman

d. September 15, 2023

Everett “Ezra” Lachman, age 81, from Newark Valley, NY, died peacefully on September 15, 2023, at Mercy House in Endicott, NY. Everett was predeceased by his father Cecil Lachman, his mother Martha Lachman (Wein), his sister Ester Schwartz and his brother Bobby Lachman. Everett is survived by his wife of 45 years, Suzanne Mariani Lachman, their daughter Mayae Chandra Lachman and future son-in-law Andrew Strohl, and children from his first marriage - Debra Goff (Tom Goff), Michael Lachman (Patricia Lachman), and Aileen Pakhik, sister Gladys Blatter (Paul Blatter - deceased), and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Everett was a kind and gentle man with a heart of gold, who touched the lives of so many others and would do anything for the people he loved, especially his family and friends. His Jewish faith defined his life and provided him much comfort and peace. Everett loved the outdoors, and spent many years hunting and fishing. He enjoyed making memories by spending time with his family at the lakeside or vacationing at the Jersey shore.
Everett’s unique ability to carry on a good conversation and his desire to help others were two of his greatest attributes. Everett had a lifelong pursuit of collecting coins and currency, cards and stamps and enjoyed building an impressive collection of music and movies that he shared with those he spent time with. He had a brilliant mind and held a fascination for spreading his knowledge with others. As a matter of fact, nearly every teller in the local banks knew Everett, as he would often bring in a rare coin or piece of currency to share its history. He was especially proud of himself when he went back to school at a later age to obtain his degree at SUNY Broome. All in all, Everett made a lasting impact during his time here on this earth, and his life made a difference.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 2 pm at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene, NY at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the Allen Memorial Home from 1 pm until Service time at 2 pm.
The family requests that if one wishes to donate in memory of Everett, that contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Mercy House in Endicott, NY.
