Frances “Fran” Martin

Frances A. Martin (Fran), 95, of Kirkwood passed away February 15, 2022, surrounded by family.
Fran’s greatest legacy is her family for whom she had boundless love and unwavering support. She is survived by 6 children and their spouses/significant others, 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Robert C. Martin Sr.
Fran was an entrepreneur who relied on common sense, hard work, and the belief that every job was worth doing well. She started her career early in life with a busy paper route that was kept under her brother’s name because in the 1930’s girls weren’t allowed to have paper routes. At 51, after raising her children, she went on to build her own successful business where she continued to work until she was 91.
Fran was a pillar of strength and support for her family and friends who always knew how fiercely she loved them. She had the uncanny ability to see what made each person special and show how much she believed in them. She had an endless capacity for love and showered us all with an abundance of meatballs and sauce, a bit of sass, endless bits of wisdom, and the best grama kisses.
A Funeral Mass for Fran will be held on April 2nd, 11 Am at Saint Mary’s Church in Kirkwood. 975 US 11, Kirkwood. The Family will receive friends prior to Mass at the Church from 10AM until Mass at 11AM. Internment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy House, 212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
