Francis Magee

d. February 13, 2022

Francis Xavier Magee, age 87, of Endicott, NY passed away peacefully on February 13, 2022 in the comfort of Mercy House of the Southern Tier surrounded by the love of his two sons - Mike and Patrick. He now joins his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Jean F. Magee, whom he married on January 8th, 1955 and had celebrated their life together for over 65 years.
He was born on December 8, 1934 in Endicott, NY and was predeceased by his parents, Francis X. and Anita Magee, his sister Delores (Robert) Donovan, his son Martin W. Magee, and grandson Michael F. Magee.
He is survived by his sister Molly (Ron) Stegeman, Michael E. (Cathy) Magee, Patrick Magee (Ted Davenport); his grandchild Danielle Magee, his great-grandchildren, Skylar and Liliah, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A graduate of Union-Endicott High School, (Class of 1952), his life’s legacy will be not only be for all that he did to love, support and care for his family but also for all the things he did to help the people he encountered, since the 1950s, while working (and eventually becoming the owner/President) at the Corner Drug Store, in Endicott, as a Pharmacist (a 1957 Pharmacy Graduate from the Albany College of Pharmacy). He continued, right up until his passing, going into work every day, professionally dressed in his signature jacket, shirt and tie, doing whatever he could to help others and manage the business.
You can’t possibly compile a lifetime of achievements and interests into one small paragraph but, to just highlight some of his favorite liesure pastimes, he enjoyed keeping his home and landscaping looking beautiful, playing golf, traveling on vacations to his favorite places (like Wildwood, NJ and Myrtle Beach, SC) with his family and friends. He always kept a positive outlook about his time in life and he continued to be very active in his later years by doing things like working at the Drugstore, golfing, walking his dog (Beau) to the park, watching sports and NCIS on television, putting together complex puzzles, listening to his favorite music, reading about history, and going out to dinner or just having wonderful conversations over a glass of beer or wine with family and friends.
The family will be holding a private funeral service at his final resting place, next to his beloved wife, on February 19th at Riverhurst Cemetery. He will be immensely missed by all who knew and loved him. Over time we’ll share wonderful memories, with family and friends, of his life and we’ll never forget the positive impact he had on so many people.
