Frank W. Ewing, Jr. of Endwell, NY passed away on September 20, 2015. Frank was born in Parkersburg, WV on March 22, 1945. He grew up on a farm in Deerwalk, WV, where it was a 2 mile walk “up hill both ways” to the school bus stop, then a 17 mile ride to school. Upon graduation from West Virginia University, he moved to Endicott, NY with his wife Patty to begin his 31.5 year career with IBM. There he met many lifelong friends who remember him for his intellect, quick wit and amazing sense of humor. He was a former Town of Union Teener League baseball coach, life master bridge player, and AARP volunteer tax preparer. Our family memories include trips to West Virginia to visit family, living in Toronto, Canada on an IBM assignment, camping trips to Lake George, Cooperstown, Assateague Island, Cape May, and Myrtle Beach, and vacations at Disney World, Bethany Beach, Ocean City, Jekyll Island, and many major league baseball games, including the 1992 World Series in Toronto. Frank is survived by his loving family, his wife of 49 years, Patty (Humbertson), daughter Michelle Forward, son and daughter-in-law Wes and Kathy (Swan) Ewing, son and daughter-in-law Jonathan and Laurie (Griesinger) Ewing, grandchildren Brad, Kathy, Hannah, Natalie, and Mason, and step-grandchildren Gray-Paul, Nico and Siena. He was predeceased by his parents Frank W. Ewing, Sr and Helen (McPherson) Ewing. Frank’s family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, and therapists who have cared for Frank over the years, with special thanks to the staff of Lily Court at UHS Senior Living at Ideal, Dr. Christine Fenlon, Pat Collins, Michelle Scarsella, Bill Gaube, Pullano Physical Therapy, Rev. Patricia Raube, Lourdes Hospice, Southern Tier Medivan, and friends who visited Frank often, including Dave Hellenga, Les Stapleton, and the “breakfast club”. A Celebration of Frank’s Life will take place on Wednesday September 23, 2015 at the Endicott Visitors Center, 300 Lincoln Avenue, Endicott, NY from 5-7 pm with sharing of memories at 6 pm.
